Volunteer Chinese Teachers Exchange Classroom Visits
Throughout October and November, eight volunteer Chinese teachers and two staff teachers of the Confucius Institute at UNSW exchanged reciprocal visits to one another’s school classrooms. During these visits, the visiting group had the chance to sit in on their fellow teacher’s lessons and participate in day-to-day activities, allowing them observe different learning environments and teaching methods of Chinese.
At present, the Confucius Institute at UNSW has volunteer Chinese teachers assigned at seven Confucius Classrooms and Affiliated Teaching Bases in total, comprising of four private schools and three community Chinese schools. The aim of these reciprocal visits was to give the volunteer teachers an opportunity to experience other classroooms and schools to improve their teaching capabilites, and gain new insights from local teachers through after-class discussions. The exchanges that took place across seven different schools resulted in a rich and informative experience for all involved.
