Associate Professor in international economics and Chinese expert on anti-dumping policy Dr Emma Junfang Xi has joined the Confucius Institute team as Associate Director.

Associate Professor Xi is on secondment from the Institute’s joint venture partners at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and comes from Jiao Tong’s elite Antai College of Economics and Management.

“Emma’s appointment comes at a critical time for our aspiration to become Australia’s premier centre for executive training focused on China,” said Confucius Institute Director Laurie Pearcey.

“Emma’s background and connections with Shanghai industry will do a great service to our stakeholders and will position us as a key force in the executive education space,” Pearcey said.

Associate professor Xi was previously a visiting scholar at the University of British Columbia and at the University of Southern California, and has served as the co-director of the Shanghai node of the University of Southern California and Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s joint global EMBA program.
