UNSW Student and Confucius Institute Candidate, Michael Moryosep, takes third place!

| 26 May 2019

On the 26th of May, the Preliminary Round (Sydney region) for the 18th Chinese Bridge Competition for Foreign Tertiary Education Students was held at the Lend Lease Darling Quarter Theatre. The theme for this year was “One Family under the Sky” (天下一家) and as usual, there were two parts to the competition: a speech, which needed to be related to the theme, and a performance, which can consist of either singing, reciting poetry or playing a musical instrument.

The Confucius Institute representative was a 4th year student at UNSW Sydney, Michael Moryosep, who gave an exciting speech and an excellent poetry recital of “将进酒” (Bring in the Wine) by famous Chinese poet, Li Bai. Michael’s performance earned him third place within the Sydney regional competition!

This competition is hosted by Han Ban/Confucius Institute Headquarters and provides the opportunity for students to show their passion for Chinese culture and demonstrate their Chinese language skills through speeches and demonstration of diverse talents. It’s a great opportunity for any Chinese language learners to improve their Chinese skills and potentially win a trip to China to perform at this international competition. Additionally, the Confucius Institute at UNSW provided language coaching to Michael and will provide language coaching to all who apply.
